Leaders Learn

Leadership development starts with on-the-job training: every new challenge is an opportunity for growth. You acquire abilities through experience and “lessons learned.” Taking your career to the next level means expanding your core competencies with targeted skill-building. Hart Learning Group offers half-day Leadership Development Workshops, full-day Master Classes, and custom learning solutions to help you refine your skills and and expand your career horizons.

We combine experiential exercises and Action Stories with facilitated group discussions about real world situations. Participants practice new communication skills and apply them to everyday management situations. Leaders Learn events are available as half-day modules and full-day Master Classes. Consider a custom designed Brilliant Teams learning event for your next retreat or all-hands meeting.

LEARNING EVENTS

Effective Meetings and Presentations

Participants review the basics of effective meeting management and learn presentation skills that reflect competence and confidence. Through engaging interactive exercises participants:

  • receive instant constructive feedback
  • learning to craft tight but flexible agendas
  • learn to deliver clear, persuasive messages
  • maintain productive group momentum

We’ll cover techniques useful for special types of meetings:

  • local staff meetings
  • virtual meetings
  • brainstorming sessions
  • project updates

Participants will also learn how to use the Hart3i™ Open Communication System to keep interactions positive and on-point.

Leaders Learn: Core Skills – A concise half-day format that covers the fundamentals and includes interactive practice and skill-building.

Leaders Learn: Master Class – A full-day workshop that includes team-based presentation exercises, and an extended section on crafting simple, compelling Keynotes, using storytelling techniques, and the art and brain science of persuasion. This class can be adapted for use in retreats and special corporate events.

Feedback and Coaching

A key aspect of leadership is helping team members improve their performance through evaluation and constructive feedback. Our low-stress model is easily incorporated into everyday interactions, so managers will use it frequently, and not wait until annual performance reviews to suggest course corrections. The goal is to help build a “culture of continuous improvement.” Participants will:

  • develop foundational communication planning skills
  • learn a focused engagement strategy to accurately read interaction dynamics
  • learn how to review interactions to learn critical influence skills
  • model giving effective daily feedback
  • learn to plan for regular performance reviews
  • learn transferable skills that apply equally to coaching situations

We explore coaching strategies that encourage team members to identify and achieve specific professional goals. Interactive Hart3i™ Action Stories create real-world situations that allow participants to explore different approaches in a supportive learning environment.

Feedback and Coaching Workshop – A concise, half-day awareness format

Virtual Teaming: Master Class – A full-day intensive workshop that includes creative virtual teaming Action Stories that target skill building to the most challenging team dynamics in the work culture. Continuous action planning gives participants an opportunity to target the skills critical to their unique needs. Facilitated discussion and brainstorming focus the group’s attention to collaborative action planning.

Conflict Resolution

One of the most crucial skills a manager must have is the ability to navigate conflicts with confidence. The Brain Science Update provides relevant, research-based insights about our physical reactions to stress, emotion, and conflict. These insights help us manage our own reactions, even as we are helping others manage theirs. Through interactive Hart3i™ Action Stories participants will practice:

  • defusing emotional reactions
  • accurately reading body language
  • resolving organizationally specific disputes
  • negotiating win-win solutions
Participants will become familiar with tools such as the Thomas Kilman Conflict Inventory, and the Hart3i™ Open Communication System.

Conflict Resolution: Workshop – A half day session that covers the brain science of conflict, useful tools and techniques for resolving conflict, and interactive Hart3i™ Action stories that help build skills and confidence.

Conflict Resolution: Master Class – This intensive full-day course builds on the tools and training offered in the Workshop by including more “hands-on” experiential training, Hart3i Actions Stories, and case studies. Course content is customized to target specific needs and challenges, based on an organizational needs assessment.

Call us to discuss how Hart Learning Group can design a custom, cost-effective program that will address your organization’s specific Conflict Resolution needs.
